Ó£ÌÒÉç½» is committed to sustainability, recognising its vital role in shaping a better future for its staff, students, and the communities it serves. In 2020, UL embarked on a journey to create a cohesive vision for sustainability, involving over 70 staff and students from across the university in a participatory process. This collaborative effort resulted in a bold and ambitious strategy, guiding UL’s commitment to achieving its 2030 sustainability targets and laying the groundwork for a regenerative future.
At the heart of this strategy is the UL Mission-based Sustainability Framework 2030, which moves beyond isolated projects to pursue clear, ambitious, and impact-driven goals. By aligning education, research, operations, and community engagement, this approach fosters systemic change and accelerates progress toward sustainability targets.
To drive this forward, UL established the Centre for Sustainable Futures & Innovation (CSFI) and the Mission Lab, the university's engine for sustainability. CSFI works to bridge governance, research, education, and operations to ensure that UL not only meets but leads in national and international sustainability commitments. CSFI manages mandated reporting to demonstrate compliance and progress, supports colleagues to embed sustainability across teaching and learning, empowers students to become sustainability leaders on campus and beyond, and actively seeks additional resources and partnerships to amplify impact.
As a university, we recognise the challenges that lie ahead, particularly in the realm of sustainability, and we are committed to addressing them with thoughtful action and responsible stewardship.
